Nors at the 2026 Skills Ontario & Skills Canada National Competition Events

TORONTO, ON – Nors Canada was a proud sponsor in the 2026 Skills Ontario and Skills Canada National Competition & Career Showcase events during the month of May. These events brought together thousands of students, apprentices, educators, and industry professionals from across the country to showcase talent, explore career pathways, and celebrate excellence in the skilled trades. Nors was also proud to support the Heavy Vehicle Technology competition at both events by supplying Volvo Wheel Loaders for the competitions, while members of our training team served as official judges. This involvement allowed our team to contribute directly to the development and evaluation of emerging skilled trades talent at the national level.

Supporting Skilled Trades at Skills Ontario 2026

Held at the Toronto Congress Centre, the 2026 Skills Ontario Competition welcomed more than 2,000 competitors across over 75 skilled trade and technology contests, along with tens of thousands of visitors from across the province. Our training specialists served as judges for the Heavy Equipment Service competition, where one of our local apprentice technicians competed and placed within the top 5 in the region! This event also marked Nors Canada’s first year participating with a booth at the Skills Ontario Career Showcase – an exciting milestone for our team as we continue expanding our support for skilled trades education and workforce development across Canada.

We were proud to receive the First Place Award for Best Small Booth, recognizing the team’s efforts to create an engaging and interactive experience for students, educators, and attendees throughout the event. Throughout the competition and career showcase, the Nors team connected with future technicians, operators, and industry professionals while highlighting the importance of hands-on training, technical education, and career development within the heavy equipment industry. Events like Skills Ontario continue to play an important role in inspiring the next generation of skilled trades professionals and helping students discover rewarding career opportunities in industries that help build and maintain Canada’s infrastructure.

Engaging Future Talent at Skills Canada 2026

Later in the month, Nors Canada participated in the Skills Canada National Competition & Career Showcase at Toronto’s Enercare Centre, where more than 500 competitors from across Canada competed in over 40 skilled trade and technology categories after having qualified at their respective provincial competitions. At the Nors x Volvo booth, attendees had the opportunity to meet members of our team, experience the Volvo Excavator Simulator, and explore immersive Volvo Construction Equipment technology while learning more about careers in the heavy equipment industry.

During the event, Nors Canada’s HR Director also represented the organization on the national stage during a livestream interview featured as part of the Skills Canada National Competition broadcast. The interview highlighted the growing importance of skilled trades careers, workforce development, and industry collaboration in helping shape the future of Canada’s skilled trades sector.

Investing in the Future of the Industry

Participation in the Skills Ontario and Skills Canada events reflects Nors’ ongoing commitment to workforce development, education, and industry partnerships across Canada. As demand for skilled trades professionals continues to grow, events like these provide valuable opportunities to encourage and support the next generation entering the industry. We would like to thank everyone who visited the Nors booth, participated in the competitions, and contributed to the success of these incredible events. We look forward to continuing to support skilled trades education and connecting with future industry leaders across Canada.
